Electrical Engineer (MEP)

San Diego, Full time

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Electrical Engineer to join our growing team in the MEP industry. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in electrical engineering design, with strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD. The role will involve supporting the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical systems for a variety of commercial, residential, and industrial projects. While an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred,
it is not required.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the design and development of electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, and communication systems.
Create and modify electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit.
Perform electrical calculations for system sizing, load analysis, and fault current analysis.
Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, and project managers to ensure electrical designs meet project requirements.
Conduct site visits to review installation of electrical systems and troubleshoot any issues.
Support senior engineers with the preparation of technical documents, project reports, and project cost estimates.
Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and regulations (NEC, local codes).
Assist in the preparation of project proposals and manage electrical engineering portions of the project lifecycle.
Collaborate with contractors to ensure successful implementation and performance of electrical systems.
Stay current with industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices related to electrical design.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (required).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in the MEP industry.
Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for electrical systems design and drafting.
Solid understanding of electrical systems design and relevant codes (NEC, local codes).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification (preferred but not required).
Knowledge of sustainable design practices and energy-efficient solutions is a plus.
