Electrical Engineer (MEP)

San Diego, Full time

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Electrical Engineer to join our growing team in the MEP industry. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in electrical engineering design, with strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD. The role will involve supporting the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical systems for a variety of commercial, residential, and industrial projects. While an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred,
it is not required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and development of electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, and communication systems.
  • Create and modify electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Perform electrical calculations for system sizing, load analysis, and fault current analysis.
  • Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, and project managers to ensure electrical designs meet project requirements.
  • Conduct site visits to review installation of electrical systems and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Support senior engineers with the preparation of technical documents, project reports, and project cost estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and regulations (NEC, local codes).
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals and manage electrical engineering portions of the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with contractors to ensure successful implementation and performance of electrical systems.
  • Stay current with industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices related to electrical design.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (required).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in the MEP industry.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for electrical systems design and drafting.
  • Solid understanding of electrical systems design and relevant codes (NEC, local codes).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification (preferred but not required).
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and energy-efficient solutions is a plus.
